Observation Flight to Corfu

Hi there,

This weekend I felt like it was time for another Observation flight. So I choose to go with Thomas Cook to Corfu. Saturday, 26th of April, it was the first flight of this summer season to Corfu, which also meant a Ferry flight back. For those who are saying now, what the h*ll is a ferry flight, read further...

A ferry flight is a flight where no passengers are taken on board. This can happen when, f. ex., Thomas cook has it's first flight to a destination, well no tourists are staying there for holidays, since it's the first flight. So they only bring passengers and return empty. Quite nice to see an airplane with 180 empty seats flying...

It was a very nice flight, we saw some Thunderstorms over Italy and the west coast of Greece, flew together with a Boeing 747 of Cathay during approach in Brussels and we had spectacular views over Corfu. A visual landing over the city of Kerkyra, and during take off again nice visibility with some layer clouds to have a clear view of the place over there. I took some pictures as well, you can have a look at them by clicking on the picture below.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the pic's!

Groundschool Finito!

Hi Folks,

Today was a big day, we had our very last Internal progress check of Piston Engines! Our theoretical training took 7 months to be completed, one month more than planned. We are quite happy this theory is over, no more full days at the school, and so far no more early mornings to wake up for a train...

We still have to comlete the FNPTII simulator at Brussels, and then we will do our ATPL exams. Normally those were planned in May untill beginning of June, where our planned departure to the States was 10th of June!
As usual, this changed again. The exams are now in June, where as the departure is still unknown. Probably around beginning of July.

Good or bad news? Depends...good news because we have some more time to fly the missions on the simulator and study for the exams. Bad news because of a delay of one month...Hopefully we can give full throttle during the last part in Belgium (next year around February) The time in the States will be very hard to speed up anyway...

So, next month a lot of simulators, lot of studying and hopefully some more sunny days here!!!

Greetz and succes with your exams!
Alex
